How to Enjoy Autumn and Pumpkins

3 pumpkins and autumn leavesDo you know how to enjoy autumn and pumpkins? I thought I knew how to enjoy them until this year. I decided to make this fall my best one ever.

Autumn Foods

To enjoy autumn and pumpkins, I went to one of my favorite grocery stores. My eyes feasted on pumpkin butter, pumpkin tortilla chips, pumpkin spiced pumpkin seeds, pumpkin O’s cereal, and pumpkin flavored almond beverage.

I decided to purchase all those pumpkin items. You see, you don’t have to be a child to enjoy autumn and pumpkins. Perhaps all you need is to be young at heart.

A Pumpkin Patch

Each day, I pass a pumpkin patch and smile. That pumpkin patch reminds me of my late son. When he was two years old, I bought him a pumpkin. He would ask everyone who came to the house, “You wanna see my punkin?” No one refused to see his punkin.

Autumn Leaves

When the leaves on the trees turn shades of red and orange, I sing a song of praise to our Creator. I thank him for the beautiful trees he created and for the autumn season.

You can take a nature walk, pick up fall leaves in brilliant colors, and make a collage with your children, grandchildren, or little ones in a Sunday school class. Then you can serve them a pumpkin snack.

Why not make a labyrinth out of autumn leaves? After you complete it, thank God for specific blessings of the past year with each turn you take on the labyrinth.

To further enjoy autumn leaves and pumpkins, listen to Roger Williams play “Autumn Leaves” at while you drink pumpkin spice herbal tea or your favorite pumpkin spice coffee, and read Psalm 150.

Ecclesiastes 3:1: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”

Dear God, help me enjoy autumn and pumpkins. Amen.
