Yvonne believes as long as we have breath, there’s hope we can move from broken to beautiful. With honesty and humor, she shares her life and struggles through messages that help women to:
- Find freedom as they forgive themselves and others.
- Exchange the emotional roller coaster for God’s peace and power.
- Drop people pleasing and perfectionism and embrace their identity in Christ.
- Experience hope and healing in the midst of adversity.
- Discover God’s will for their lives and live with joy.
As a speaker, author, counselor, and teacher, Yvonne has desired to use her gifts to serve. She has taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, Precept Bible studies and in Bible Study Fellowship. Presently she serves in Stonecroft Ministries as the Regional Speaker Trainer of VA and as both a traditional and a military speaker. She also serves on the Advisory Board of Christians in Recovery and formerly served on the board of Kairos Prison Ministry at the Virginia Correctional Center for Women.
Yvonne has a Master of Education in Counseling and degrees in Spanish. Her background as a licensed professional counselor, licensed substance abuse treatment practitioner, and clinically certified domestic violence counselor gives her a unique perspective on the heart of women. Her counseling experiences in jails, prisons, and outpatient services add depth and humor to her presentations, as do her years of teaching mostly high school and college Spanish.
For Yvonne, hope and healing are more than theories from a textbook. God has taken many of her messes and made them messages. She has survived and thrived after breast cancer, divorce, single parenting, and multiple family losses including the loss of her only child. She looks forward to the day she meets Jesus face-to-face and reunites with her son who awaits her in heaven.
Yvonne speaks from experience and always draws her audience back to God and the Bible. She is the author of Finding Hope for Your Journey through Breast Cancer (Revell), a contributing author to The Embrace of a Father (Bethany House) and Transformed (Wine Press), and has published more than a hundred and fifty articles. She has taught writing workshops at the CLASS Christian Writers Conference, the Colorado CWC, the Greater Philadelphia CWC, the Maine Fellowship of Christian Writers, and the Richmond Christians Who Write.
Yvonne is a member of the National Speakers Association and the Advanced Writers and Speakers Association. She is a graduate of the Advanced Speak Up Seminar, the Christian Communicators Conference, CLASSeminar, and Proverbs 31 Ministries She Speaks Conference.
Yvonne enjoys the outdoors, especially the beach. A year-round flower garden delights her. You’ll find her there with a wide-brim straw hat on, mud up to her elbows, and a smile on her face. She appreciates music— everything from country western to classical, but her greatest love is to study the Bible and memorize scripture.
