Goodbye, peace! My body screamed, “Goodbye peace!” I didn’t want to feel that way, and I found a solution.
Goodbye, Peace: Pray
I admit that I cried more than once. And yet, I prayed, “Comfort me, God, and let peace permeate my body.”
In that same prayer, I told God, “I don’t want anger, bitterness, or resentment to ruin my heart, soul, mind, or strength.”
Exhale anger, bitterness, and resentment. Inhale peace. #anger, #peace Share on XGoodbye, Peace: Find Prayer Reinforcements
With a need for re-enforcements, I asked my prayer partner and my prayer loop to intercede for me. I couldn’t jeopardize my spiritual well-being or my ministry because of someone else’s lack of conscience and misbehavior. When I asked for prayer reinforcements to forgive, I explained the seriousness of the situation. I didn’t hold back the truth.
Listen to Praise and Worship Music
As I listened to praise and worship music, I sensed God’s presence, power, and peace sweep over me. I went to sleep listening to the soothing music and lyrics that reminded me to focus on God not the problem.
On Sunday morning, a pity party attempted to push its way into my life. I forced myself to get ready and go to church. After all, I refused to say, “Goodbye Peace!” on the Lord’s Day.
At the service, I filled out the prayer request form and asked for prayer to maintain my focus on God and the work he called me to do.
Take Daily Walks
On my daily walks, I reviewed precious promises from the Bible, God’s Word, and recalled the countless times God blessed me with peace.
While on those walks and throughout the day, I also prayed, “God, I don’t want anything to stand between me and you, but a lack of forgiveness will do that. I want to move forward with your freedom, peace, and joy.”
As I chose my activities and reading for the weekend, I concentrated on what would edify, encourage and educate me. What would bring honor and glory to God took priority in my life. I would not say, “Goodbye Peace!”
Joy enveloped me on Sunday evening, as I reviewed the past quarter of the year and planned the coming week. I had written proof of God’s work in my personal life and his favor in my life as a speaker, author, coach, and mentor.
I went to bed peaceful and thankful and slept seven hours.

Colossians 3:15
“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful” (NIV).
Prayer
God, I want the peace of Christ to rule in my heart. I don’t want to be a prisoner of anger, bitterness, and resentment. On my own, peace seems impossible. My human weakness wants revenge. Please help me seek peace and have an attitude of gratitude. Amen.
