Has spring sprung with resurrection and redemption for you? That question was the last thing on my mind during a severe thunderstorm. As the rain gushed down vertically and horizontally, the sky became darker. The weather alert flashed news of a severe thunderstorm with a tornado watch, flash flood warnings, and also warnings of tidal flooding. The weather alert advised us to stay away from windows and take shelter in an inner room or a closet.
When the internet service went down, I saw resurrection and redemption go down the drain. I imagined the daffodils throughout the neighborhood blown apart. The next storm brought strong winds, more rain, and hailstones. My mind swirled with images of the budding blossoms from the crepe myrtle trees scattered on the ground.
HAS SPRING SPRUNG WITH RESURRECTION OR DEATH?
At last, I dared to come out of hiding in my closet. As I approached my laptop, another peal of thunder and lightning caused my body to leap into the air with fear. Then I laughed as I said, “How high can you fly?” Once again, I waited for some manner of calm to appear, some evidence that spring has sprung.
Yes, spring has sprung, and I choose resurrection. I choose light to shine into the darkness. After the death of a marital relationship through divorce, I felt like my life shattered into a million pieces and blew here, there, and everywhere.
With God’s help and that of others, I overcame death. The technician installed the plantation blinds the week before the storms. Restoration was possible. With God’s help and that of others, I overcame death. The blinds provided a pinch of protection against the thunderstorms and the hail.
A former coworker chose resurrection after the loss of her husband through an unwanted divorce. She saved her money and had a fireplace built in her home. It signified the warmth and comfort from God and friends.
Has spring sprung through resurrection for you? The choice is yours.
REDEMPTION OR CONDEMNATION?
Initially, I had to answer that question after the divorce. My life and that of my son were the most important to protect for redemption. We would be a redeemed family, not a broken, condemned one. My son worked the late shift at a fast-food place, and I fixed dinner early to eat a delicious, attractive meal together. I drove him to work because of the heat and humidity in the afternoon. At my insistence, after his shift, he would call me to pick him up. This mama didn’t want her son to walk home alone around 2:30 am, no matter how close it was.
Since my son’s eternal homegoing, God has held me close to him. He didn’t condemn me to loneliness and imprisonment. Instead, he redeemed me with a new purpose in life. He called me to strengthen women to stand firmly on their own two feet. I offer them the process for celestial protection, provision, peace, and purpose. Then I pray they will accept it.
Spring sprung for me, and I hope it has sprung for you, too.
