New Easter family celebrations in a crisis will happen because of the pandemic. What can you do without risk to you and your family?
For new Easter family celebrations in a crisis, be creative.
Arts and Crafts
Karen Whiting writes for the family. She has two short videos on YouTube. In one video, she demonstrates how to make paper dioramas. Although she uses the example of Noah from the Bible, you can change that to any aspect of the Last Supper, Good Friday, or Easter.

In the second video by Karen Whiting, she shows how easy it is for the children to make banana rounds, a delicious snack.

When my late son was a toddler, I established the tradition of baking a cake in the form of a cross and talked about what Easter meant to us as Christians.
If you have the ingredients to bake a cake in the form of a cross, you can have the children help you mix the ingredients. A cake mix will also work. Let the kids frost and decorate the cake. One of the older ones can read the passages about Good Friday and Easter.

Perhaps your adult children and grandchildren live outside of your home. They don’t want to visit and jeopardize your health and that of those who live with you. FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, and Google Hangouts provide a way to see and hear one another. Include them in as much of your traditions or new celebrations as possible.
Should the internet be flooded with users, as happens during a crisis, have another plan ready to connect.
Social media options for Easter #Easter, #family, #socialmedia Share on XYou can look into free teleconference calls to talk with family, friends, or coworkers. Your list may include those who have attended your Easter dinner in the past. Send a text or an email in which you express your gratitude for them. Explain how they’ve blessed you.
Your children who’ve grown up with technology can probably send their own texts and email. They might attach photos of their artwork or cooking.
For New Easter family celebrations, pray for those absent.
Pray for those who can’t be with you. Include the children in the prayers for them.
Pray for those absent on Easter. #pray, #Easter Share on XWhen my son was five years old, his paternal grandmother was dying from cancer. We couldn’t visit her because the hospital policy prohibited children in that unit. Instead, I recorded my son’s message to her. He played two songs on the piano for grandma. His father took the recording with him for her to listen to it. She couldn’t talk, but oh, how she tried.
