Reflections on my journey from fickle to faithful remind me of dead ends, detours, and speed bumps. Those thoughts also make me realize how much God loves me and the importance of my commitment to live for him. Perhaps you can relate to my successes and failures.
On a cold windy day with thunderstorms, I snuggle in a dusty rose velour blanket. I glance out the window and then open my Bible to read about the week before the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.
The Bible tells us Jesus had raised Lazarus from the dead the day before. When the crowd heard he was coming to Jerusalem, they took palm branches and went out to meet him. They kept shouting: “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord—the King of Israel!”(John 12: 12–13 CSB).
If I had been in Jerusalem, I would have joined the fickle ones to shout Jesus’s praises one day and scream for his crucifixion a few days later. God knew that and still loved me. He also loves you and had his only son Jesus die for you, too.
God loves you and had his only Son die on the cross for you. #forgiveness Share on XGod sent Jesus to earth to save us through faith in the sacrifice on the cross of his son the promised Messiah. Jesus didn’t waste time and energy but obeyed the Father.
With more years behind me than ahead of me, I’ve slowed down. I’ve said “No” to many good things to have time for God’s best for me. Although I long to follow the example of Jesus, I’ve made excuses more often than I care to admit. Maybe you have, too.

This week let’s surrender to God’s purpose for our lives. Let’s drop the excuses, accept his offer of forgiveness, and obey the Lord who loves us.
Prayer: God, thank you for sending your son to die on the cross for all my sin: past, present, and future. I desire to wave palm branches to praise my Savior without hesitation. I’m sorry for every dead end, detour, and speed bump in my life of my own doing. I’m also sorry for those you allowed that I didn’t initially recognize as challenges to draw me closer to you. Thank you for your love and forgiveness. Amen.
