Matthew 11:28: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Financial problems, a life-altering disease or a life-threatening disease, depression, and disappointments. At some time in life, we, or a loved one, will face one or two of these situations or all of them at once.
Robin Williams, a beloved American actor and comedian, committed suicide on August 11, 2014.
Some people say financial struggles, a diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, drug and alcohol problems, and depression were the cause. Others attribute his suicide to mental illness.
Some question how he could be depressed with all his fame and wealth. Fame and wealth don’t equal happiness and peace. Those people don’t see the pressures a celebrity faces, especially when he has reached the height of his career. That celebrity may think he can only go downhill now.
We don’t need to judge Robin Williams, his motives, his attitude, or his mindset. Instead we can pray for his family, friends, and fans.
We can listen to our own family, friends, and co-workers. We can offer support and encouragement. We can refer those who are depressed to www.ThinkingAboutSuicide.com
Will you pray for Robin Williams’ family, friends, and fans? Will you pray for those who are weary and burdened? Will you tell them about the rest that Jesus Christ will give them?
Dear God, help me love and listen to those in my life. Amen.
Application: What will you do this week to encourage and support the weary and burdened?

Well said! We fail to really really see people because we are caught up in our own situation…at least I am guilty. We just never, never know the true state of a person’s emotional stability. Let the Holy Spirit help you truly listen!
Thank you, Yvonne, for the times you reached out to me, especially when I didn’t want to burden you.I love you!
Thank you for dropping by, Margie, and for your kind words.
