Jeremiah 31:3: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving kindness.”
Valentine’s Day will soon be here. You may not feel loved. You may be single again through widowhood or divorce.
Perhaps you’re married, but your relationship lacks love and kindness. Maybe you’re married and have a loving relationship, but you know there’s more to life than earthly love.
No matter what your situation is, God loves you. He loves “you with an everlasting love.” His love doesn’t depend on his mood. He doesn’t question whether you deserve his love.
He doesn’t review your actions daily to see whether you’ve earned his love that day. God doesn’t love you one day and forget about you the next.
He doesn’t run from you because you ask him for blessings.
God is a gentleman. He doesn’t force you to love him. He draws you “with loving kindness.” He wants what is best for you. His love is an unselfish love. He will never tell you, “If I can’t have you, no one else can.”
You are loved “with an everlasting love.” You are God’s valentine. Happy Valentine’s Day.
Dear God, thank you for your everlasting love for me. Amen.
Application: What will you do this week to respond to God’s loving kindness?
